History of Red Bank Elementary
(Excerpted from 50 Unified Years: Building a Tradition of Excellence in Clovis Unified Before, During, and After Unification)
"The modern campus, built in 1991 on Locan Avenue near Shaw
Avenue, bears no hint of the school’s rich history that spans more than a
century. The original district, known as Red Banks, so named for the color of
the soil in the area, was organized August 3, 1874."
"E.B. McCabe was Red Banks' first teacher, his pay was three dollars per student per month." " A photograph of Red Banks, published in the Clovis Tribune on December 24, 1915, pictures a small wooden building with a simple front porch. A windmill stands close to the school."
"The Red Banks District was one of the seven elementary schools to come together in 1899 to back the creation of Clovis Union High School District. "
The New Red Banks
